What's a federal student loan? |

The only thing I knew about loans in college was that I never wanted to have one. I got lucky because I had a scholarship, but my girlfriend had thousands of dollars in student loans. Well, when I graduated I thought about going back to school, and, naturally, how I would pay for it. The topic of a federal student loan came up, and so I decided to do some more investigating.
What I found out is that not all loans are created equal. A federal student loan is the best loan you can get, because it is subsidized by the US government and, as such, can give you a major advantage in that it is the lowest interest possible out of all your options.
Truth is, there are many companies out there that will rip you off and take advantage of your ignorance. Some interest rates are as high as 25%! With a federal student loan, you will be sure to have only a regulated 6-8% standard interest rate depending on if you get it yourself or through your parents.
So, stop wasting time with other providers and go for Uncle Sam today!
