The new school year in just around the corner and now it’s the time to dissect all the student loan information available. Students interested in funding all or part of their education with Federal student loans should be going to their schools financial aid office getting all the student loan information available. In addition, students should be making appointment with financial aid officers who posses most of the student loan information they will ever need. Some students see federal student loans as something trivial, something that everyone else does and therefore they also have to do but it’s no big deal. A lot of these students could have benefited from obtaining all student loan information available before signing any promissory notes. The reality of paying student loans back does not become apparent until about 4 years after the first signature and it hits pretty hard. There is a lot of student loan information out there that will give students a realistic picture of their true need for financial aid so that they don’t go overboard using federal student loans as if they were credit cards. Doing good research now will mean a better tomorrow after graduation. We all need loans, but we need to minimize the burden as much as possible.
